Tory Lanez has been charged with a third felony as he awaits his trial on allegations that he shot Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
On Monday, December 5th, prosecutors introduced a new allegation of discharging a handgun with gross carelessness, as jury selection for the trial began.
Lanez allegedly shot Megan in the foot at a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in July 2020.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, previously pleaded not guilty to one count of assault with a semiautomatic pistol and one count of transporting a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle.
In addition, the rapper is accused of inflicting serious physical harm on Megan Thee Stallion.
If convicted of the new charge, he faces up to six years in jail and deportation from the United States to Canada.
Tory Lanez faces a maximum sentence of 22 years if convicted on all counts.
After a fight in the Hollywood Hills, the 30-year-old rapper allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion’s feet.
The trial is expected to begin later this month, and Stallion characterized her injuries as “bleeding profusely.”
