PlayStation 6 details leaked in November 2022 article, as Sony looks to extend the PS5’s life cycle for a few more years. The year 2022 was the year of the PlayStation 5, with the Sony platform receiving a slew of first-party and exclusive titles.

As Microsoft prepares to compete this year with recent acquisitions of Bethesda and Activision to enhance day-one Game Pass releases, some future information has emerged. Last week, documents from the United Kingdom’s Competition Markets Authority were made public as part of Microsoft’s continuing acquisition of Activision.

The PlayStation 6 isn’t expected to arrive until 2028, giving the PS5 a seven-year life span. With the release of those documents, Sony attempted to thwart Microsoft’s $68.7 billion USD acquisition of Activision-Blizzard.

The largest issue is that Call of Duty will become a console exclusive on Xbox, although corporate executives have stated that the game will still be released on PlayStation in the future.

Future Call of Duty releases, in our opinion, might be free on Xbox Game Pass, making it easier for all people to play on Microsoft devices. That is the actual concern for Sony, since they do not want to lose one of their biggest revenue generators on the PlayStation.

Examine the document breakdown below.

MICROSOFT HAS OFFERED TO CONTINUE MAKING ACTIVISION’S GAMES AVAILABLE ON PLAYSTATION ONLY UNTIL 2027… BY THE TIME SIE LAUNCHED THE NEXT GENERATION OF ITS PLAYSTATION CONSOLE (WHICH IS LIKELY TO OCCUR AROUND [REDACTED]), IT WOULD HAVE LOST ACCESS TO CALL OF DUTY AND OTHER ACTIVISION TITLES, MAKING IT EXTREMELY VULNERABLE TO CONSUMER SWITCHING AND SUBSEQUENT DEGRADATION IN ITS COMPETITIVENESS,” READS PLAYSTATION’S ARGUMENT. “EVEN ASSUMING THAT SIE HAD THE ABILITY AND RESOURCES TO DEVELOP A SIMILARLY SUCCESSFUL FRANCHISE TO CALL OF DUTY, IT WOULD TAKE MANY, MANY YEARS AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO CREATE A CHALLENGER TO CALL OF DUTY – AND THE EXAMPLE OF EA’S BATTLEFIELD SHOWS THAT ANY SUCH EFFORTS WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY BE UNSUCCESSFUL.
